| DD (11) has to dress up for several school events. Boys will wear coat and tie, girls skirts, dresses, or dress pants outfit. DD does NOT want to wear a dress or skirt. She feels very uncomfortable in either. I'm at a loss for what pants or alternative outfit would be suitable. I can imagine some kind of business wear, but I doubt that exists in her size! |

What about black pants with a blouse? |
| Some sort of dressy jumpsuit? |
|
Why not just a pair of black slacks and a top? Have you tried JC Penny?

Lands end has some really pretty velvet tunic tops--they are really comfy and not fussy feeling like a lot of dresses are. They look really cute with a pair of black leggings. If her issue is that dresses and hose are generally uncomfortable (she's right!), this could work well. My 10 year old with sensory issues loves this outfit.
If her issue is with not wanting to look girlish, this probably won't work, as they are quite feminine. There was a good thread here a couple of months ago about an outfit for a girl to wear to a family wedding, where the girl really did not like feminine clothing...lots of good suggestions on that. A tux style top and black pants was one of them, I think. |

Black palazzo pants that almost look like a skirt and a nice shirt is perfectly fine and comfy.
Mom of 14yr old tomboy. |
| The links are super helpful. Sometimes I don't know what is being described or where to find it. I think she'd like the simple black pants in the JCPenney link. |

| My tomboy tween wears black pants and a loose tunic, sometimes lifted from my closet. |
She'd be willing to wear something like this: http://robertarollerrabbit.com/sale/bay-blouse.html |
Dress pants, white collared shirt or blouse. |

Here's the link to the velvet tunic top I mentioned above. Ra shorter than t looks in the photo--sort of covers the butt but not much more.
