7 year old peeing his pants lately

Anonymous
Lately my 7 year old DS (amost 8) has been intermittently peeing his pants. He says sometimes he doesn't notice he did it, or he had to go really badly so some leaked out. A few times lately I've noticed his PJs smell like urine. I am always paranoid about diabetes - he is skinny and often thirsty but he doesn't seem overwhelmingly hungry. I don;t think he's eating anything more than usual and he's not losing weight, he just stays really scrawny.

Do I need to worry about diabetes? Does diabetic urine smell the same as usual? (weird question, but I've heard their breath smells funny, so who knows) Has anyone else been through this with their son? Thanks.

This can be a sign of diabetes. My daughter was thirsty, drank a lot of water, and had a lot of leaking/urination before she was diagnosed near this age. she didn't lose weight, her breath did smell sweet. It's something I would have checked out with your pediatrician.

Anxiety, abuse, infection?

Get him to the dr,

Constipation should be checked out with any urinary incontinence. The rectum and bladder are in close proximity, and an over-filled rectum can cause havoc at times.
