How far in advance to send out birthday invitations?

Anonymous
I have noticed that my kids have been getting invitations just 1-2 weeks in advance of the party date. We often make plans 1-2 months out so I personally like as much notice as possible.

Is an evite 5-6 weeks prior to the birthday party ok?

5-6 weeks is too early. It's a kid's party, not a wedding. About 3 weeks seems to be the norm in our kids' classes.

I always do 3 weeks.

I disagree, I think 4-6 weeks is standard in our circle. Most people definitely send invites out closer to 6 weeks because everyone is so busy these days.

I think you should send whenever you want. Best case, more people come because they are free.

I'd do four weeks. If you're aiming for a popular date or time slot, four weeks is the minimum. I always think that people who send invites out only two weeks or less before the party are trying to keep the numbers down.

No more than 4. No fewer than 2.

3-4 weeks seems the norm.

if you're aiming for a holiday clash I'd do longer, but if its a normal weekend 3-4 weeks should be fine

if you're inviting a lot of people and its not at a venue where you need a head count, I'd also say 2 weeks would be okay

2 weeks

I usually send them out about a month in advance, with a RSVP date a week before the party (especially if it's at a venue).

Well, for a wedding the invites should be sent 3-4 MONTHS out.

2 weeks.
it's not a wedding.

I generally do 4 weeks. In our circle people are super busy on the weekends and I like to give them a heads up. Also, we don't invite everyone and their grandmother just friends. So I want to give parents a big heads up to make sure her friends can come.

Nope. You can send a save-the-date earlier, but the invitations are supposed to go out 6-8 weeks before the event.

Huh. I always think that, if they are having a party at home, they just don't need a head count way in advance. Or that they aren't super-organized.
