Travel insurance for renting a house?

Anonymous
Hoping DCUM will come through. I have found a great summer house rental in Maine. We have some ongoing health issues that leave us with a bit of uncertainty with regard to the summer rental. Is it possible to buy reliable insurance against this risk? If so, what should I be looking into?

Should be-- look at insuremytrip and dig into what the requirements are for collecting/canceling for medical issues are (and confirm that preexisting conditions are covered-- usually they are if you buy a policy shortly after paying for the house). Worst case you could look for "cancel any reason" insurance, but that will be more expensive.

We did this once for a house rental in the outer banks (hurricane season) and it was pretty cheap.

Try www.vacationrentalinsurance.com for covering yourself/renter. Select the coverages you need based on your family's case.

Allianz does this also if the agency you're renting the house from doesn't include it. Travel insurance is always worth it IMO.
