What does the DC Charter Board do?

Not the Board, but the people (staff) that work there? There are so many and I can't figure out what they do.

Sit around and eat bond bonds.

They did not except contact the school and a few weeks later told me to move my child to our public if I could not afford a lawyer.

Can you try posting again? This doesn't make sense.

Not call me back after I filed a complaint, despite telling me they would call me back.

Many tasks including review applications for new charter schools / authorize them; do reviews of existing charters' performance; approve contracts / RFPs for expenditures in excess of $25,000; audit charter schools annually.

Did you file a complaint through some official means? When did this happen?

If they recommended that you get a lawyer or transfer, I am curious as to what your complaint was. It sounds like it should be taken seriously, but I don't know you.

Charter schools are basically a political animal that try and ensure that students and their voting parents stay and don't take their votes and brains elsewhere. All-in-all it's a stupid concept: provide tax money to "experts" so they can spend it with little oversight and most often middling results and success. What? Something like 40% of charter schools in DC have failed and if you add in the poorly performing charters that number rises.

Remember, charters send the students that are performing poorly back to the public schools. If they couldn't do that their success rate would be even lower. Basically, they're a way to try and break unions, appease voters, and try and save some cash for the governments.

What did you want people to say, that charter board employees do nothing all day except scheme at how to steal students from DCPS or how to kick out low performing students to DCPS? That sounds like what the board does. Supposedly there's oversight in there, but I don't know if it's effective/people use it/whatever.

How many DC public schools have had to be reconstituted and how many are failing a majority of their students? More than 40%.

Yes, I filed an official complaint. That the csb said they'd address, and give me an update in a few days. That was two weeks ago.
