| Can some one who's child is in 4th grade compacted math share which areas of 5th grade math they do? It says online they do two grading periods worth of 5th grade math, but which areas do they cover. Thanks |

Based on my 5th grader's experience in compacted math, I'm thinking the first half (3 units) of the 5th grade curriculum? That would be factors and multiples; geometry; and fractions, decimals, and percents.
http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/curriculum/math/elementary/grade5/ FWIW, it's not like the teachers have been telling us when they moved from 4th grade math to 5th grade math. I know his class is working on absolute value right now. Curriculum guides suggest that that is usually covered midway through the 2nd marking period of 6th grade. |

I concur with the previous poster--the first half of 5th grade math is covered.
When the kids return in August, they cover the 2nd half in about a quarter or a quarter and a half. 5/6 Compacted Math is much more fast paced than 4/5 Compacted Math. Be prepared for that. |
| My kid's class is working on decimals at the moment, adding money amounts and calculating sales tax. |
| Mine is also learning decimals |
| Mine too. They just finished a unit on geometry and angles (naming types of triangles - obtuse, etc. - and adding angles. |
