This is embarrassing but I can't fig out how to stop. It calms me down more than anything. I love qtips. I'll even pull the cotton out and use the stick to really scratch and clean it. I have psoriasis in my ear canal so it's the only thing that feels good and helps the itch or sensation of I have to do this. I also no longer produce ear wax like ever.
Anyone else have a qtip obsession? Also I have tried oils in my ear or steroids and I know the damage of sticking anything in the ear. I also got in the habit of hopping to diff ents and getting my ears vacuumed out. The best feeling. |

Are you sure? Because I Q-tip my ears every morning after taking out my earplugs I use for sleeping, and rarely bring out any actual wax. It's because I clean them so frequently (too frequently) that it's such a small amount I can't see it. I get you, OP. I've never been to an ENT though. |
| I love q tips too and my ears tend to get itchy but I do produce a ton of ear wax. I also have super oily ears (inside and behind). |
| Every person I have ever met that had a Qtip addiction was also addicted to pain pills. |
Odd |
| I have to buy qtips in bulk from costco because my husband panics if we run out. |
| OP, this sounds like it could be a form of OCD. You should talk to your doctor about it. |
I've had a q-tip addiction for a decade. I've rarely take ibuprofen, and have never anything stronger. The only medication I take is the BCP. Q-tips are just like that ohhhhsoooogooooooood feeling you get from scratching an itch. Almost orgasmic. I've heard the term "eargasm," and it's not a stretch! |
| If you Q-tip loving people are having "eargasms," my question is, how far are pushing the Q-tip in? Beyond where you feel resistance? How far are you pushing into your ear canal? |
| *oops, should be a "you" in between are and pushing |
I do not push them beyond resistance! I don't use a q-tip, without first feeling an itch - and then when you scratch or relieve the itch with a q-tip, it feels so amazing. So, so amazing. It's usually on the inner-sides of my ear. Maybe a centimeter in? However, if you do not have this habit and never feel an "itch" to begin with, I do not recommend that you start! Don't try it! For me, this is where the "addiction" comes in. But I don't have many other vices - don't do any drugs (including prescription), rarely drink, so... we all have a quirk.

| I also have super-itchy ears due to eczema. My doctor said to use hydrocortisone which helps sometimes. Q-tips make it worse so I'll use a bobby pin to scratch in there (probably similar to taking the cotton of the q-tip). I don't use pain pills so scratch that off the list. |
I'm a PP. I remember hearing Demi Moore discuss this term with Arsenio Hall on his TV show (yes, I am a million years old), and never forgot it. |
Well, not me. I hate most pain meds - Vicodin makes me itchy all over, Percocet makes me projectile vomit, and everything else I have ever been prescribed has some side effect that makes me want to get off it as fast as possible. Motrin is my friend if I am in pain but that is all. I barely even drink these days. |
