I just had my mock embryo transfer on day 7 and my antral follicle count was significantly higher than on my day 3 testing this past November.
The nurse said that my AFC should decrease from my day 3 tests, not increase. Has this happened to anyone else? Did it bode well for your IVF results? thanks in advance |
| My AFC on day 3 is always less than later on. I think whoever reads it early on may not take into account all of them and maybe just stop counting after a certain point??? |
are you sure you understood the nurse correctly? It's usually lower than on day 3, and can vary on the same day between months. |

OP here.
PP, the nurse said your day 3 AFC would be lower or the same as your day 7 AFC so, if they counted 10 AFs on day 3, they should count 10 (or less) on day 7 this seems consistent with the literature I read? I have also read that AFC can vary from month to month, which may be what is going on with me. |
how is this different from what nurse said? |

This is OP here. I don't think it is different. I am sorry if I confused anyone.
I started this post to understand whether other ladies going through ART experienced an increase in AFC when the mock embryo transfer was done from their day three testing |
| Yes, experienced it. No, did not bode well for results. I had 25 follies growing, only 12 retreived and only 4 made to day 5. BFN. |
| I think you cannot compare AFC if they are not in the same cycle. One month I had 6 AFC and next month I had 12 both on day 3. In general, the more follicles the better, so I think it's a good sign for you OP. Good luck! |
