Other careers to tap into?

I'm trying to get out of my career. It's been a great ride but I've been at the end of my rope with my career for some time now..

I've been a recruiter - covered everything from university recruiting, executive headhunting, corporate and international recruiting. I've done career coaching, corporate consulting, but these days with 2 little ones, I really want out of corporate. Been told that lobbying could be a potentially easy transition since I'm able to leverage communications, sales, project/relationship management not to mention multi tasking skills but I'm not sure there's any organization/cause/idea that I would really want to promote. Also, sounds like there's a strong pre-requisite for Hill work which I don't have..

But here in DC, not sure what new job in what new career I could leap into being in my early 40s. All my experience is based in corporate positions which makes it harder to figure out what else there is out of corporate. I'm also fairly new in town. But it would really need to be a company/organization that sees the significance of my skills and that because of them, I can transition into what they need fairly easily no matter what. I can learn a new industry/job fairly quickly since recruiting for different companies/industries basically trains me to do that. Any ideas on interesting/creative non corporate careers that would love a background of a headhunter/recruiter in metro DC?!

Lobbying requires hill connections and experience on the hill and long hours.
