We are slightly re-doing our main floor living area. We have bright white walls and big colorful art - mostly modern art. We have 2 of the dark brown karlstad sofas from ikea. We got them to resist stains and wear since we have 2 young kids and the leather sofas have been great. They still look pretty new, after 6 years. Coffee table is a darker wood.
The house has old wood floors that are pine or fir. They are medium brown with an orange/yellow undertone. My husband and I are trying to get the overall feeling more light and airy. Kind of going for an art gallery feeling. So my question is: What color rug will work for the sofa area? My feeling is a light to medium shade of a grayish blue. Or teal-ish grey. Or just grey. Something solid, but maybe with some subtle variations. This will be a wool rug. Also, hoping for a good value

| Yes I agree. What's your price range? |

| Sorry, *porcelain blue |

OP here. Thanks for the replies!
My price range is somewhat flexible, but we'd have to REALLY love it if its over $600. Size is 8x10 I'm interested in this one, which appears to be grey, but reviewers all say has blue in it: http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Safavieh-Hand-loomed-Himalaya-Grey-Wool-Rug-8-x-10/8353314/product.html |

OP here again. I also like this one:

| I would get a neutral toned wool sisal. (perhaps a diamond pattern) I wouldn't go with a color, it will take away from your artwork. Add a few colored pillows and then a piece or two in an accent color. Between your art and these few items, you'll have plenty of pop to make your space more airy. |
| pp here. The overstock one looks kind of blah to me, but maybe it's better in person. I really like the PB one except for the fringe. It's a pain bec it gets stuck in the vacuum and it's a pain to lay it flat. |
| Another vote for a sisal rug. Our decorator got us a banded one from pottery barn to go under our leather chairs. |
| I like the fringed one. |
OP here. This rug, in the porcelain blue color is nice! That is the color I'm looking for. Husband prefers no pattern. Thank you for the links! |
