ENDOMETRIAL BIOPSY - Anyone have one done?

Anonymous
I'm 32 (no diagnosed problems), my DH is 33 (male factor). We just failed our first ivf cycle. Before we start our second cycle, I was thinking of having an endometrial biopsy done just to make sure my lining is ok and isn't causing any issues with implantation. My Dr. did tell me that my lining looked good during monitoring and the embryo transfer and he doesn't think I need one just yet (but will do one if I really want him to)

Has anyone had an endometrial biopsy done and if so, did it help you learn anything?

Thanks in advance!

I had one. It helped my doctor diagnose a luteal phase defect. I don't know if it would help if you don't have other signs of something amiss with your uterine lining. It was painful, but it only took a second, literally.

OP here...are there any signs/symptoms that might point to a luteal phase defect?

i had an endo biopsy as part of my infertility work up before going through any procedure; it detected a mild luteal phase defect. symptom would be a short time period from day of ovulation till when AF starts. i found the biopsy very painful but just briefly; i just wasn't expecting it...wish i had taken a valium!

I had one also before my IVF...my clinic does them as standard protocol for all IVF patients, so I wasn't given much information about it. It was pretty quick (although unfortunately more than a second..they took tissue from all around the lining, not just one spot) and I wasn't expecting the pain. I totally agree with the Valium, I asked after the fact and my doc said it would have been fine (don't ask me why they don't tell you this before hand!) My office said there are studies that show the biopsy process, something with the roughing up your lining, actually increases implantation rates. I'd say have it, but get some drugs first!
