How accessible is it? Lots of stairs and difficult to get around?
Not accessible. There are steps down and a narrow ladder at the end and the passage is uneven and narrow.
Ok thanks! That's very helpful. |
Also was it fun? I was thinking it would be a good activity for teens.
You can also tour catacombs in DC in the meantime: http://www.myfranciscan.org/types-of-tours/
Yes! So fun and fascinating. We went about an hour before it opened and still had to wait in a long line to get in. There's a coffee shop right there, though, so one of us went and got coffee and pastries and we had that while we waited. My teen daughter (17) said it was her favorite part of Paris.
PP here - yes, it's great. Another great "underground" Paris tour is the Musee des egouts - the sewer tour. I loved that - if you've seen Les Mis you'll probably enjoy it too

It's great, but depending on the age of your kids (if any going), they might not like it. It's a lot of walking and kind of scary for kids.
They are teens, so I think it will be ok.
My teens loved it.
The archaeological tour of Notre Dame (under the cathedral) where you can see the ancient Roman baths, etc. is wheelchair accessible.
Buy your tickets online before you go to avoid the lines. You will get a timed entry.
It's super cool. Lots of steps and walking. The entrance is hard to find so make sure you have a good map.
Could a 5 and 7 year old do a catacombs tour? I don't think the skeletons will bother them, but can they make the walk down?
