My 6 yr old wants to go to the movies for his birthday party. I think I'm missing something. I invite 10 kids to show up at the movie theater. I buy tickets, popcorn, and a drink. They watch the movie as a group and then go home? Do I have cake? Do I do a craft? Is it really just watch a movie and go home? |
We had the kids meet at our house, drove the kids to the theater and then brought them back afterward for pizza and cake. |
Some movie theaters have party rooms. We went to a movie party last year. We met about an hour before the movie for lunch. The kids got snack boxes during the movie. After the movie, we met back in the party room for cake. |
I do not know where you are located, but my daughter recently attended bday party at University Mall Theaters in Fairfax and it went really well and all the kids liked it. Here is a link to how it works: http://www.universitymalltheatres.com/parties.html |
Yes I think it works better to do a party room at the movie theater, but I know some parents try to minimize costs. The problem then is with the rsvp's. One person didn't rsvp, but then ended showing up. It was a theater that you had to reserve spaces at. The host was very lucky there was one seat on the end left because the movie was packed. If you arrange for it through the theater, they will reserve seats for you, and there have always been plenty of seats when I have gone to parties arranged through the theater. |
We were just talking to a family member in another city who had a bday party at a movie theater - a second run type one like University Mall theaters - where they have a small theater you can rent for a bday party and you can select what movie to show just for the bday group. I thought that was a really nice idea and I'm sure it was quite affordable because these people aren't the type to throw lavish parties. That would be a good option for a theater in this area to add. |
We went to a location that had movies/restaurants at the same general location. Assembled kids at pizza, walked them to movie, walked from movie to dessert, had pick up at dessert place. |
We had a snack during the movie, then walked across the street for dessert. Parents picked up from the dessert place. |
