He's a liar and a phony... Told a Christian journalist a tall tale about how he and his wife were a struggling pair of newlyweds trying to start a family. Factchecking reveals they had plenty to give, but just didn't.

| He's a serial liar. |
| He lies about all sorts of provable things. Cruz exists in a different reality than the rest of us. |
| He's a rat. I'd vote trump over him. |

You know Hillary is, too. |
Show us a politician who doesn't lie. Please, we'll wait. |
Given that a majority of his party says that the earth is 10,000 years old, that global warming is a myth, and evolution never happened, he should fit in just fine. |
| Politicians exaggerate the truth, but this is such a silly thing to lie about. Why pretend that you tithe when you don't? |
and a COMPLETE asshole. |

Why pretend you don't have health insurance when in fact your family has HMO coverage? |
Anything for that evangelical vote. I wonder if they ever feel insulted for being pandered and lied to. |
| And his wife. She has crazy eyes. She's been in the "hospital" before. I read she had a breakdown because Ted moved her back to Texas and she wanted to stay in DC with her snooty friends. |

I hate Ted Cruz as much as the next person, but this is silly.
If you read the quoted "lie" he's clear that he didn't tithe. He says he knew it was wrong. He describes the period as 10 years ago, when he was a newlywed and when he started a family." In fact the period began 10 years ago, and continued for 4 years, started 5 years after his marriage, and included the years when both his daughters were born. I think that's as close to the truth as many statements made by many politicians. In addition, I find the kind of church Cruz belongs to to be pretty awful, so I can't really be upset that he didn't donate to them. I also think, as an atheist, that the argument that Cruz's lies are more problematic than other politician's lies because of the Bible are ridiculous. Lying isn't just a Biblical issue, it's an ethical issue that goes across cultures and religion. |
