I often find that posters are not from the area, and I'm just curious if that is a stat you collect? |
I'm curious about this too. But I frequent the explicit forum and am naturally curious. |
I'm guessing 30% |
I meant 30% are DC area natives |
1. What makes a "native" anyway
2. What about those posters who grew up in the greater DC area and moved away? Are they not "natives"? 3. What about all the people moving to DC or who have lived here 5+ years? You can't fish out these stats simply from IP locations. |
30% seems pretty low. You mean DC metro area or DC proper? |
Google Analytics, which is what I use for stats like this, doesn't give a simple breakdown of unique users by geographic area. Based on "sessions", about 40% are from the DC metropolitan area with DC proper having the most users. The DC metropolitan area is followed by New York (about 7% of sessions), Los Angeles (3%), Chicago (3%), San Francisco (2.5%), and Boston (2%). Those are all metropolitan areas, not just the cities themselves.

Thanks for taking the time to share this interesting information |
Those are great stats for ad sales! |
Coincidentally, ad sales are great ![]() |
On my work computer (not what I'm using right now), I use VPN and show up as one of those other major metropolitan areas. |
Wow...!! Only 3% from Los Angeles??
I expected maybe higher, at least ten percent higher. |
Well thats because the stats measure how many users are from there. They don't measure how often those users post. |
You expected it to be 3.3%? |
Lol |
