If you hate washing your face at night

Anonymous
What do you do? A couple nights a week I work overnight shifts and by the time I get home I just want to pour myself into bed. Washing my face is entirely unappealing. In the morning I wash with cetaphil and moisturize with CeraVe. I use Bare Minerals foundation and just a touch of mascara so there's not much to take off, but my skin is somewhat sensitive. Is there a wipe or something I can use instead of actually washing that is gentle for sensitive skin?

I take a bath and wash my face while in the tub. It warms me up and relaxes me for bed without getting my hair wet like a shower would.

I hear you, OP! On nights like that I use the Simple brand sensitive skin wipes. I use them for my foundation as well as eye makeup. You can get them on Amazon, they're pretty cheap.

I like the Costco ones. I order them on Amazon since we gave up our Costco membership after we got out the diaper stage: http://www.amazon.com/Kirkland-Signature-Hypoallergenic-Facial-Towelettes/dp/B00AZNIAG8/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1453650747&sr=8-6

The Olay ones are also good.

I force myself to wash it anyway because my skin is nicer when I stick to my routine, but I'm vain.

Just put a pack of wipes and a bottle of moisturizer next to your bed. The Neutrogena wipes are good, and Cerave PM moisturizer is also effective and gentle.

Question: do you at least brush your teeth and wash your hands before collapsing?

Pure mineral foundation can be worn overnight without harming your skin. If your skin tolerates Bare Minerals, then it' may be fine to leave it on overnight, although it will get your pillowcase dirty.

There are mineral foundation alternatives that are even better than Bare Minerals, if you want to feel totally comfortable with not washing it off overnight.

Yes I brush and wash my hands. I can't stand the fuzzy teeth feeling. I just can't bring myself to deal with water on my face at 4am.

I get itchy after about 12 hours with it on, but it is the least offensive of the dozens of foundations I have tried. I actually will avoid wearing it most of the time, but once a month I get some hormone-caused acne.

Warm washcloth.

Unscented baby wipes, generally cheaper than facial wipes and great for entire face and eye make-up area.

On nights when I'm not up for a full face wash, I put oil (almond oil, jojoba oil, avocado oil, etc.) all over my face and then take a cotton wipe, dampen it slightly, and wipe all the oil and makeup off. Then go to bed.

I think you can do the same with Pond's cold cream or other cold creams, use them to wipe makeup off and leave a thin layer on overnight.

Then wash face and moisturize in the morning.

I wondered about this but do they leave any kind of film on your skin? I use coconut oil to take off the mascara because my eyes are always irritated if I sleep with it. I just don't want to leave something extra on my skin that will make it all flare up.

Wipes of some sort would negate the need for water on your face.
