As of March, childcare for under 2's will go up to $1620 a month at The Family Academy of Bethesda. I'm happy with the care, but am less happy with the cost. What do people pay for infant care elsewhere in the area (Bethesda, Friendship Heights, Tenleytown, Chevy Chase, Silver Spring....)? Thanks! |
Up until recently, I was paying 1600 a month for an over-2 year old at a bright horizons center in d.c. |
I think $1650 is the norm. I have a friend paying $1800/month for her infant in DC.
Maybe you could look into a nanny share. |
We were paying $1665 for a infant space in DC; now we pay $1445 for a toddler space |
I think center-based care is very expensive in this area but especially under 2 years old and in close in suburbs. (Moco, DC, Fairfax County). Expect to pay $1250-$1800 a month.
In-home daycare is what we used for my child before they moved to a more center based daycare. We were happy with it, although there are some trade-offs if you don't go with the center. But it is definitely less expensive. We are in Virginia but paid $900/month for full-time in home care that we were happy with for 2 years, until we moved our child to a center for more activities. |
Our infant spot at a work-related (and I think somewhat subsidized but not much) day care was $1400, now that we've moved into the toddler room it's down to 1200 |
We pay $1400 a month for infant care at a Bright Horizons in Silver Spring. |
OP here. Thanks for the responses; it's helpful to hear that we're in the ballpark. |
We pay $1175 at the Baptist Church at 17th & O. The price goes down a bit when your child turns 2. |
My DD is at Family Academy too. We are also pleased with the care but would have liked some feedback as to what the increase was going towards. I feel like the caregivers there are top notch but the administration does a poor job with communication. Just my 2 cents! |
