| My DC was invited to a birthday party for an acquaintance from school turning 14--not a close friend. DC not going to go to party. Is it necessary to still buy a gift? |

You get an invitation for dinner or cocktails from neighbors who moved in last year. DO you show up empty handed or with flowers or a bottle of wine?
Are you seriously asking? Of course she brings a gift. $20 gift card to itunes or goolge play would be great. I love it when DD (13) gets invitations from girls she does not consider to be close friends with. I mention how great it is that Larla wants to get to know her better. |

Did you read the OP? She isn't going to the party. |
| If she is not going to the party and the girls is not a close friend, I don't think she needs to buy a gift. |
| We don't generally bring a gift if we don't attend. If it's a close friend, then sometimes we do. |
| No need |
