Middle School birthday party/gift question

Anonymous
My DC was invited to a birthday party for an acquaintance from school turning 14--not a close friend. DC not going to go to party. Is it necessary to still buy a gift?

You get an invitation for dinner or cocktails from neighbors who moved in last year. DO you show up empty handed or with flowers or a bottle of wine?

Are you seriously asking?

Of course she brings a gift. $20 gift card to itunes or goolge play would be great.

I love it when DD (13) gets invitations from girls she does not consider to be close friends with. I mention how great it is that Larla wants to get to know her better.

Did you read the OP? She isn't going to the party.

If she is not going to the party and the girls is not a close friend, I don't think she needs to buy a gift.

We don't generally bring a gift if we don't attend. If it's a close friend, then sometimes we do.
