Diversity bump/penalty?

My child is mixed Caucasian and Nepalese. I know Asians experience a penalty sometimes in college admissions-- what's the story with DC area privates?

No penalty in DC privates. Asians are underrepresented, not over represented in the applicant pool. Might help you a tiny bit, won't hurt you.

Not all Asians are the same! If your DC is half Napalese, I wouldn't worry about that.

If he is half Korean or Chinese, that's another story.

My DC is Nepalese as well, and we are interested in applying to DC pvt schools.

OP, which ones were you looking at?

My DC is not Nepalese but 1/2 South Asian. Help or Hurt? Should we have checked Asian or Other?
