Triathlon gear for larger chested girls

Anonymous
Looking for suggestions that would support a C/D woman going from a swim to a bike to short run (5K). Something versatile that would serve all 3 purposes. I'm afraid that if I go with just a swimsuit that I'll be bouncing all over creation on my run. Stores have not been useful and I'm hoping someone has some practical tips/advice. All the triathlon girls I know are much thinner and more flat chested than I (this is my first tri).

Ok, I'm definitely not in the well-endowed category (just a B), but I have done a number of triathlons, so here's what I think. First, it really depends on the swimsuit as to how much support you are going to have. There are 2 piece swimsuits with a top that is like a sports bra that I find have a lot of support, and that's generally what I've worn (again, just a B, though). So, I think you could couple this with another top that you would pull on top in the transition - you could either layer another sports bra or go with a running top that has a bra built in - with the swimsuit you might get enough support by doubling up with that. What do you typically run in? Frankly, if this is your first triathlon, and it's just a sprint (which it sounds like with the 5K), I wouldn't worry excessively about the transition times and would figure out what you're most comfortable running in. The extra 30 seconds it's going to take you to pull another shirt on after your swim is going to more than make up for itself if you're more comfortable running. THe only people that are going to be wearing the tri suits that don't have to change at all are the serious triathletes - no point in investing in one of those if this is your first. Like I said, I wore a 2 piece swim suit and pulled on bike shorts and a tank top after the swim for the next two legs. Totally comfortable and quick, and I didn't look out of place at all.

Thanks PP. Yeah, it's a sprint and I'm going for my own personal goals, not to place with the "elite" folks. I will check out the two-pieced suits. I usu swim in a one piece and NO WAY could I run in that.

Sorry, I answered the wrong question. I run in a very restrictive Moving Comfort bra (very little bounce) and a tank or other shirt, depending on the season. The Champion/Nike brands don't really do it for me unless I double up.

Double D runner and biker here. You might want to check out Title Nine Sports, or even give them a call. Not sure about swimwear, but I have had very good experiences with them, and they have a HUGE bra selection, rated by support for each chest size. I have several Champion sport tops I wear for basic workouts, and for really heavy duty activity, an Enell bra.

The Enell was the bra recommended on Oprah. I considered it for running but is it hot or restrictive?
I'll check out T.9 - thanks.

It is both hot AND restrictive, but it does eliminate all traces of bounce.

If you weren't wearing much else, it would probably be fine.

The Title Nine catalog is the place to look.

Check out Title Nine sportswear and Athleta. You might also try a specialty lingerie place, who might be able to point you to a line of sports bras. I've heard good things about Trousseau in Vienna and Coup de Foudre in DC.

I can't really help you more than that because I have the opposite problem- my girls shrank to a size A after my pregnancy, and I'm not super happy about it. though it does make it easier to run - the ONLY upside to being flat-chested!

I want to echo the Title 9 and Athleta suggestion and add that I recently read that the Gap is now carrying Athleta products.

if you go to the gap website, Athleta is a tab.

I am a huge fan of Titlenine sports. Thye have been around for a while and Missy Park (the founder) is a great advocate for woman in sport.

I am DD. I wore a bra under my swim suit for tris. Speedo makes a nice one piece that's pretty supportive, but hot.
