Just saw a link to this letter with DCPS policy on making up any snow days this year:
http://dcps.dc.gov/sites/default/files/dc/sites/dcps/publication/attachments/SY15-16%20Snow%20Day%20Make-Up%20Day%20Letter%20to%20Parents%201-13-16%20FINAL.pdf When will school be made up? State law requires us to have a minimum of 180 school days. To meet this requirement, some snow days will need to be made up at the end of the year. • If we have 1 snow day, there will be no changes to the calendar. • If we have 2 snow days, June 16 will become a full day and June 17 will become a half-day with dismissal at 12:15pm. The Professional Development day for teachers will not be rescheduled. • If we have 3 snow days, May 23 and June 16 will become full days and June 17 will become a halfday with dismissal at 12:15 PM. Neither the Professional Development day nor the Parent-Teacher Conference day will be rescheduled. |
| Doesn't matter, because we ain't gone have no snow this winter |
You only need a forecast of snow to have a snow day.
|
Or in Virginia, a puff of cold air. |
| Did some schools close for the Pope? Are they making it up? |
Some charters closed, DCPS stayed open. |
True in VA. But I don't think DCPS closed at all last year. |
| When are teachers supposed to do final grades and break down their rooms? Then DCUMers will bitch because teachers are doing it in class before the last day. |
