Appliance reviews

We're starting a kitchen remodel, and the appliance search is stressing me out. I've never had to buy any - just used whatever was there when I moved in. Any suggestion for stores with knowledgeable employees? Websites for reviews?

Not sure about stores, but for websites--c/net focuses on "smart" appliances, but they do a lot of their testing in an actual house, which is interesting.

I like ajmadison for researching (and buying). They have search features for *everything* and really accurate data info for everything. So it's really helpful to get you thinking about different features - should my washer have the largest cubic feet possible? Do I need convection oven? Would I prefer an internal water dispenser on the fridge versus on the door? Sounds straight forward, but no other site offers this level of detail (or has it accurately inputted). However, aj Madison doesn't carry all of the cheaper lines, so I usually double check on the sears webpage to double check I'm not missing stuff. We've had very good experiences doing two kitchens with Ajmadison.

Save yourself some stress and buy the appliance package you like and can afford. Everyone has their favorites so reviews can be hit or miss. Find out where home builders get their appliances and shop there.

We chose the GE high profile 4 piece package. I haven't had any problems.
