Looking to hire an early elementary school teacher to assist my 7 year old with reading. I was thinking $40 per hour.
Does that sound reasonable? |
| We pay $50, but that is what she asked, and I didn't question. She has a lot of experience and a graduate certificate in teaching reading. |
|
We paid $60 an hour 9 years ago, she charges $70 now. $40 if it is college student, but not for an experienced reading teacher certified in the various OG based methods.
It does get expensive, DC went 2-3 times a week from mid-2nd grade to mid 7th grade.. |
We are ok with $50-70 if it gets our child reading! I just wanted to know the going rate. We live in FCPS if it matters. |
| I have a masters in literacy and I charge $40/hour in NOVA. I don't charge a lot because it's not a business for me. I just enjoy helping struggling readers figure the process out. |
Wow, I live in the northeast and pay $110/h !
|
| $40-$60. |
I am the pp to whom you responded. We are also in FCPS. |
|
We're in MCPS, but my DH easily gets $60/hr for tutoring (not reading). One of his coworkers tutors in reading for $80/hr. If you're looking for a certified teacher, $40 is too low.
|
| $70+ / hr for a certified teacher |
| $75 for a certified therapist trained in the "Sounds and Syllables" program, an Orton Gillingham based program. |
| We paid 45-our tutor was a teacher at DC school with lots of experience with teaching reading. |
|
Does anyone have any ideas on how to find a reading specialist for Spanish? We are at an immersion school and they don't let you hire their teachers for extra help. DC is behind in Spanish reading and school does not appear to be doing anything about it, so I need to.
We live in the district (in NE). TIA. |
Ask the teachers are the school, they will know of other teachers in other schools that do not have that restriction. |
