Janney and Aids in Classroom (special aids, not assistant teachers)

Does anyone have any experience with having a child with an aide at Janney? Was this provided by the city after an IEP recommendation or via your own means? And was it helpful to go this route rather than go private/small school where the child might not need an aide?

I realize I'm not relaying a lot of specific information here but for a child in 1st grade who is very bright but has some pragmatic language delays and processing issues, we're looking at Janney with an IEP or a private school.
