Bishop Walker School-tuition free

There is a new school, started in Fall 2008, designed to provide tuition-free, private school education for boys in the Anacostia area. It isn't looking to serve "the best and the brightest" - just average kids in the area, which is chronically underserved. Several of the board members of the schools also serve on the boards of other area private schools.

I know that many of the parents on this website won't be applying to BWS, but I hope you will consider supporting it. More information can be found at the following link.

I met some representatives from the school at this weekend's Flower Mart at the National Cathedral. It sounds promising, but it's only tuition free, if your family's income qualifies. Otherwise, some level of tuition is required. Being a Ward 7 resident myself, I will say that the area is completely underserved regarding quality education, & I do wish them the best. It'd be nice not to have to travel across town for a quality education.
