We are heading down to Hilton head for the holiday weekend and trying to figure out where to stay. We have a 2 year old and a five year old and were looking at the Sea Pines Inn at Harbour Town but can't tell how good it would be for kids. Has anyone tried it? What about the Sea Pines villas? Is there another place on the Island anyone would recommend?
Thanks so much. |
Sea Pines Inn will be great. The kids will have a lot of fun being right by Harbortown, although the villas are nice too. Have fun! You really can't go wrong at Sea Pines. |
Thanks so much, we are psyched. Have you by chance driven down there? We're trying to estimate how bad traffic on the way will be if we leave DC by 8am. |
I rave about HH to everyone. Unless you want a long, long drive, I wouldn't leave at 8, I'd try to leave much earlier, say 4 am, keep your kids in pjs and drive about 4 hours while they are still sleeping, stop for breakfast and then you have just about half done. With kids, I prefer to stay in the villas in Sea Pines, much more space, see if you can get one that is harborview. There's a playground right there in harbortown. Watching the boats come in and out was a great past time for my little one. Take them to the stables for a pony ride. Make sure to check out the HH Diner, pretty good and family friendly. |
This is so helpful. Would you recommend staying in Harbortown over somewhere like South Beach to be closer to the beach? Also thanks for the driving tip. Now, if I can only get my husband out of bed that early... |
Harbortown wins hands down, more closer to the action of Sea pines, nicer and more varied accomodations, nicer beach, just a generally better area. If you can't get him up to leave early, then try to leave by 6 am. The only reason I'm not going this year back to Hilton Head is the long drive with a 4 yr. old but will be back there next summer for sure. |
Thanks again! |
We just got back from a weeks stay but we rented a condo on South Forest Beach Dr. Close to Coligny circle and you can get to many things more quickly. Definitely do a dolphin cruise, my 4 year old love them.
We left the day before and stayed in Wilson NC- about a 3 1/2 hour drive from here. Then you can leave around 8 or 9am and get there at a decent hour. If you arrive to early for check- in, there are still places you can go. |
Just wanted to say thanks for such excellent tips! We stayed in a condo overlooking the harbor and it was totally perfect. |
