Love Fordham! Congrats!

Congrats to your kid!!

Just curious: was this early decision or early action reply? My child is waiting on an early action response, but I thought those were expected at the end of the month.

Thank you! DC applied EA. It was an email saying that DC “will be offered admission” when decisions come out later in the month. We were surprised by the email and curious whether this was standard or not.

NP here. My child also applied EA and didn't get this email. The agony of waiting!

Congrats to your child!

We are also waiting on Fordham. Is this basically a likely email? Congrats!

War Eagle!

Another one in at Auburn-kind of a shocker as Naviance suggested this was a reach!
Applied Oct 15, notice on Nov 14.

Congrats! Especially intrigued by the bolded. DC didn't apply to Auburn, but he did apply to several Naviance reaches that I felt should have been targets.

What were DCs stats. Auburn is very transparent about its cutoffs. Not sure what is in Naviance. Also, they definitely admit boys with lower stats to even out the ratio. I am convinced that is how my DS got in. Congrats and good luck. Great school!

What do you mean, transparent about their cutoffs? Mine was in from a western FCPS school with a 3.72 weighted and a 1300. The GPA was lower than but the SAT was higher than the school average as per scattergrams.

Excellent!

Curious about Duquesne - did the merit offer come with the acceptance or did it come separately? The student I am coaching is in at Austin College and Knox College with large merit offers but there was not mention of merit in her acceptance letter from Duquesne.

DP here. My kid's Duquesne letter did not come with merit, which if I'm honest, surprised me. I guess it remains to be seen if it will arrive later.

Same. My student is a first gen student who had already received direct admission from Duquesne so the only question was merit. She received $38K from Austin and $50K from Knox in merit, so I would be surprised if she didn’t get anything.

OP here. I think the admission letter came with the merit. Not sure exactly. My memory may be off because I thought he originally got 25 and a paper letter which he got a month later said 29. Same as Saint Joes. His buddy also got 29. I think that might be the max unless you get one of the elusive full rides.

My DC got merit at Duquesne - the info came in an email about a month after acceptance and then we just got full financial aid package in the regular mail this week (but on top of the merit it was just the loans because we don’t qualify for need based aid).

Did you fill out the CSS?

Did anybody get the mailed acceptance envelope from Penn State? My kid was accepted a few weeks ago, but we are still waiting for the envelope.

And I literally can't believe that I used to post in the daycare/preschool forum and now here we are!

Haha, yes! Me too!

I have been on this site for 21 years.

20 for me 🤝

Was there a site 20 years ago? I joined the email list 18 years ago and can’t remember when the forums started.

I got on the listserve in 2004–no site at that point.

You can do that when admissions are based solely on stats.

Nope. DD was also accepted several weeks ago but nothing in the mail.

Radford, in-state (LCPS), with $4000/yr grant. Considering it.

Nice! DH was down there this summer as a Boys State counselor and really liked the campus and the faculty interaction. Wish ours had considered it.

Congrats!

PP. Also got into ODU this morning, no word on merit yet. DC applied to Radford and ODU on Sunday night, in a flurry of last minute applications.
