Why do you all like to lie so much. It's about 3-5 pages back. Some crazy guy talking about BIPOC, his entitlement, and how he pays taxes. |
Why don't you go ahead and find that post and repost it here. |
What you are calling "obstructing traffic" is transportation on a bicycle, which is perfectly legal. If you don't like it, support bike lanes. |
You are simply making the point that the presence of anyone on a bike is provocative. It is really quite sad. |
This isn't a protest. It is a group ride from one location to another, that happens all the time. The only difference is that you are hearing about it before hand. In the years it has taken place, you have never once heard about it or complained about it. So again, it really has never impacted you, so why are you getting upset? |
and they wonder why everyone hates them |
This is total BS. I love the way that the Bike Bros are always talking about the Netherlands. Guess what, in the Netherlands as in most other European countries, cyclists come to a full stop at a red signal or a stop sign and obey the other laws. When entitled DC cyclists start doing the same thing, then talk to us about Holland. |
The name itself “bike party” indicates that the purpose is assembly, not transportation. In addition, the event creates real public safety risks to non-participants, including impacts on emergency response times. That is the reason why it’s illegal without a permit. Blocking roadways is not legal, even if you’re doing it for your own enjoyment. |
There are multiple other examples where groups of people use the road in ways that slow drivers down. Funeral processions. Politicians' motorcades. Sometimes whole streets get shut down for festivals or markets, pushing traffic to other roads. You are not entitled to a commute that takes a particular amount of time on every day because there are other people who want to use that space for other things. It's entirely different than a protest which has a goal of slowing down or stopping traffic. |
It's using the roadways, not blocking them. No different for ER vehicles than if cars were in a lane of traffic |
+1 |
Interesting how the Bike Bros think it's great to stage a group slowdown on Connecticut Avenue. But when people are with their little kids or senior citizens are out for a walk on the Capital Crescent Trail, the Bike Bros basically force pedestrians to the side of the trail, lest they slow down their Tour de Lycra. |
