Do you know what the Southern Strategy is, and what it meant for the rotation between the political parties?

The southern strategy was 70-80 years ago.

It continued up through the 60s and 70s. Read up on Nixon and all of the racist southern pro-segregation Dixiecrats who switched from Democrat to Republican, like Strom Thurmond, Jesse Helms and so on. And basically over time, a big swath of the North went from Republican to Democrat and a big swath of the South went from Democrat to Republican. The GOP is no longer the party of Lincoln, hasn't been for decades.
