Unfortunately one has to pick a party to endorse them, independents get no traction.
Perhaps one day that will change. In the meantime, it’s not unreasonable that a local moderate democrat would get the local Republican endorsement these days. Lots of people regardless of party affiliation would be dancing with glee to get a board full of moderate democrats. Personally I vote for the best available candidates, and that’s generally a mix of both dominant parties, though some elections more of one than the other. |
I was first open-minded about voting for GOP-endorsed candidates but they have just become so far-right that I don’t believe I can support any of them. I am considering Ahmed but his campaign finance reports are very sketchy. |
And Davis CHOSE the Republicans along with a domestic abuser, and a January 6th insurrectionist. She chose poorly. If this is an example of her judgement, then that tells me all I need to know. No thanks. |
And some of the other candidates were actually at 1/6. It’s relevant. Another DP. |
Honestly the people who voted for the current clown show should reflect on their continuing support of the circus.
Choose them again and continue to see the school system decline. We will all pay, but those not in a position to richly supplement for their children or walk away from FCPS entirely will take the full brunt of it. |
No, this is a thread about GOP endorsed candidates. Davis is GOP endorsed. Regardless of she was before she’s running now as a Republican. |
I generally support Democrats for national elections but will be voting for GOP across the board in this election. Can’t stand any more of this DEI stuff being front and center and prioritized above personal achievements. Liberals in this arena won’t be satisfied until everything is a pass or fail (already getting there with “equitable grading” starting at 50% even when ZERO questions were answered correctly), no homework, and less and less ways to distinguish high achievers.
I’m sure there will be dismissive replies to this post but if anyone honestly thinks the environment today recognizes high achievers to the same extent as 5 years ago, they’ve either been living under a rock or are in complete denial. Imagine the same trend for another 5 years down the road. |
+1 Another Democrat who would vote for Republicans across the board in local. Unless Trump is on the ballot, I would vote Republican in national as well. Hate Trump and his supporters. But if Democrats are going all in on DEI, then I would vote for Trump as well. |
haha, I bet you will still vote for all democrats this year. Fearmongers will label all Republicans as MAGA, Liberty of Moms, far-right, transphobia, White supremacists, etc., and you will buy it, as always. I am independent, BTW. |
Ok, yeah sure, Mr. / Ms. "Democrat." Wink, wink. |
Even for the state legislators? Or do you just mean for the SB/local? |
It’s hard to reconcile extremes these days. I don’t want book banning or child suicides but I also don’t want DEI superceding every other concern within the school district. |
Just SB. Not even other local. |
Same here. After the last four years of this School Board and our utterly hypocritical local SB member, the Ds have lost my vote. I can stick with the Ds for the state elections and most of the other local positions (though would like to see Descano replaced). |
