Ivy+MIT+Stanford+Caltech = strong Throw in Chicago, Northwestern, Duke, Hopkins and Hopkins if you like. |
Really? Curious as I kind of heard the opposite. Happy to be corrected. Do you have any details? |
What happened to all the kids rejected by Brown. Any one make it in RD? |
| Yes, one did make it into Brown RD. |
I’ve always heard the hardest part is getting in. |
No details- just rumors from my DD (a senior who does not go there but is friends with some kids who do go there). But I do know some kids with acceptances at high ranking SLACs, UVA, etc. |
Good grief. Thanks, though, for making clear how unhelpful and uninformed your initial comment was. |
So to be clear, you don't think NESCAC schools, or UC schools or Georgetown are strong? I am just trying get a handle on the negative hyperbole meter. |
Very few kids ever go to MIT or CalTech from Sidwell. So scratch those off the permanent list. They don't generally look for what Sidwell produces. That isn't a knock on Sidwell. The SFS kids who go on to CS or engineering generally do it at Ivies or places like Michigan. |
Latinos getting affirmative action is a scam of the highest order I would rather see black people get double the affirmative action rather than see Latinos sneakily abuse it |
Georgetown is really underwhelming. Students and alums there don’t like it at all. It’s just…there |
Did you post your kid’s stats and something like “it’s a bloodbath out there unless you’re URM”? The post you quoted refers to non URM kids with money and connections. |
Plenty of disappointment. Top students had impressive outcomes, but many more are committing to safeties. They'll all do well in the end, but it is tough. |
Latinos aren’t the ones abusing it. White people are. As the actual beneficiaries are white, you should be happy that they’re getting it. More white kids is always the goal, right? This is just like athletes and legacy - white affirmative action. |
My student at Georgetown and all his friends are loving Georgetown. |
