My spouse and I are so glad that we chose Dr. Sabine de la Croix-Vaubois as our LO's pediatrician -- I feel compelled to post something on DCUM for other parents who may be looking for a pediatric practice.
The whole practice at Chevy Chase Pediatrics is wonderful - when our LO was born six months ago, we saw Dr. Howard Bennett because Dr. Sabine was on vacation. When LO was just a few days old, he noticed LO's tongue tie and referred us for a frenectemy and for a lactation consultation - not something generally noticed by pediatricians. He met with us every few days because of LO's difficulty feeding and putting on weight until Dr. Sabine was back. Dr. Sabine has been just as attentive in her care, and has been extremely knowledgable, patient and accessible. During our appointments, her approach is holistic; she takes the time to listen and talk with us to understand how we're all doing, and provides invaluable advice and support. LO adores her. When LOs difficulty with eating continued, she researched and made sure we had every strategy and resource available to us, from getting us into a feeding disorder program and helping us to secure physical and eating therapy with DC's Strong Start program. We wouldn't have known about either of these programs if she hadn't referred us and been a fierce advocate for making sure our LO had the best specialists. We can't recommend her highly enough! |
| +1! Love Dr. DLC (as well as the entire CCP practice). |
|
Does she speak French?
|
|
She is actually German (speaks German) married to a French man. Not sure if she speaks French.
We love her also. |
| I just wish the practice took a bigger range of insurance! |
| We also love Dr. Ahlstrom at Chevy Chase Pediatrics! She is wonderful -- so attentive and thorough. Really, CCP is a topnotch pediatric practice. I have had good experiences with all of their doctors. Unfortunately, due to demand for their services, I doubt they will start taking other insurance providers (although that would be great). |
| OP here again. Maybe they take a wider array of insurance now? We have United Healthcare. |

I regretfully disagree. We recently left CCP because according to their policy we can't switch doctors within their practice. I find Dr de la croix sarcastic, judgmental, and not current with fairly common medical issues. She makes us feel uncomfortable when we ask ("too many") questions and is always running behind schedule and we are rushed. I don't appreciate being made to feel bad because I care about my son's health and have questions. The othe doctors in the practice are far superior.
|
| I like Dr. DCV-- we've gone to her for years. She is s little blunt in a Teutonic sort of way-- but very warm hearted and our experiences have been more similiar to OP's. |

I don't attend this practice. Still, I'm so glad you have had a really positive experience. To 6:42, I participate in Children's Pediatricians and have had the opposite problem. We have been switched between doctors constantly. There is a medical history on file, but no one who truly knows my children. It complicates things more often than you'd think. I hope you've found a steady care provider. Hopping around makes scheduling easier, but undermines the ability to form a relationship. GL. |
Ditto this. She was a champ at helping us figure out and work through all of my baby's various feeding issues in early infancy. She called me on the weekends to check in, gave me her personal cell phone number so I could report back on how our newest treatment test was working, etc. She's so patient. I love the practice. I can always get an appointment, I've never waited more than a few minutes in the waiting room, just a great experience. We came from a practice that felt like a factory prior to this (with our older child) where each doctor had so many patients it never felt like they remembered us at all and we waited upwards of 25 minutes (even with the first of the day appointment!) in the waiting room every time. I told my husband recently that we can never switch insurance providers because I don't want to have to ever leave the practice! |

Dr. Sabine de la Croix-Vaubois opened her own solo office in Bethesda: Washington International Pediatrics.
We have been going to her for years and the new office is phenomenal - the staff is lovely, the new space has lots of lights, is very inviting and the location is great. Dr.DLC has a new website to check out: www.wipediatrics.com |
Many Germans speak multiple languages and she is married to a French man - so it would be a good guess that she knows French. |
My child has also been going to Dr. de la Croix-Vaubois for a couple years (but have also frequently seen Dr. Bennett) and we haven't yet decided whether to jump to Sabine's new practice or stay with the Chevy Chase Pediatric group. On the fence because I suspect that availability for sick visits with a solo practitioner is more limited than for the group (and I believe they are adding a third doctor this summer). Can anyone speak to either any difficulty getting in to see Dr. DLC at her new practice or how they've found CCP post-Sabine? |
Given both surnames are French, she might be Alsatian. |
