we are about halfway done. two floors of a 2200 sf row house. two left. I want to die. haha. that is all.
if anyone can suggest something to help me power through the next 1.5 hours of folding laundry and organizing our bedrooms, I would be grateful. in several years of being married, my husband has never done this once. he occasionally "helps" me for an hour or two. must be nice. |
| I couldn't clean AND organize our house in a day if I wanted to . I admire your ability to do so. You will love yourself tomorrow. Power on! |
| You can do it, OP! Do it for the rest of us who have piles of laundry littering the bedrooms, holiday decorations still up, and shoes and coats strewn everywhere. |
| I wish I could! I have to call it quits and go get some food. I am dying. I want to throw away a ton of my husband's stuff to somehow make this easier. |
| Read the KonMari book. You could (theoretically) get to the point where all organizing takes 30 minutes max, and sustain your house that way. You'd still have cleaning to do, but you would dramatically reduce the clutter and misplaced items. |
How many more years are you going to let that fester while you martyr on? |
Not many if I can help it!!! not at all interested in being a martyr. it's more about getting organized for the week ahead. I am going to get the *** kinda book and go to town!! I still think it will be harder though, in a small multilevel townhouse with two small kids. oceans of stuff migrates from floor to floor, and it's tough getting it all back in place...... |
| I can empathize OP. I've been doing the same thing. It's so stressful! |
just glad to know I am not the only one doing this on a Saturday!! even though I have been taking a break for about 45 now. I am telling myself it felt worse this time bc of the holiday stuff that is still being put away and sorted |
| or even easier, have an affair with a SAHD. |
| I'm with you OP. Just took the car for service, the dog for walks, the other rodent - cleaned cage, took down the Christmas tree, and am finishing the laundry. Maybe tomorrow I can organize...I'm a thrilling person...really. |

Music?
I find that helps me power through. Has to be upbeat though unless you can clean with classical. |
|
I cannot help you out now OP, but I strongly suggest for future clean ups, it is always best to not let things get too bad.
Do a little cleaning and organizing each and every day. Make sure you throw away junk mail as you get it. Also, make sure that clothes ALWAYS land in the hamper and that the trash gets taken out when full. These tips will ensure you won't have to spend a whole day dreading this task.

| wait till you have kids. he had better get his butt in gear then! |
Can I get the cliff notes? Too busy. |
