Eye doctor in DC

Anonymous
Can anyone recommend an opthalmologist in DC? Mine can't get me in for three weeks, and I'm having a serious problem with my contacts. I work in the metro center area and would ideally like not to travel too far, but really, anywhere will do if they can see me within a couple of days.
Thank you!

I go to Thomas Clinch in Chevy Chase (right above the Metro, by Indique Heights). He also has an office on K Street.

Thank you; I'll try them. I'd seen their web site and thought perhaps they just did major eye care--surgeries and the like--so it's good to know they see patients for more routine things. Thanks!

I hate Clinch. You can't even walk in the door without him trying to talk you into Lasik.

I had a corneal abrasion over the weekend and Dr. Stopack, who was only covering for my husband's eye doctor, stepped right up to the plate with pain meds and saw me Monday morning.

I love the optometrist at Clinch's practice- Dr. Teller. He's excellent (and I've had contacts for 25 years and have seen tons of docs).

I think Dr Teller is good, too. My ophthalmologist in that practice is Dr Gaasterland, who is excellent. I used to see Dr (Sam) Stopack (different practice) and he seemed perfectly competent, but I prefer Dr Gaasterland.

I don't know if you can settle for an optician -- you describe this as a contact problem -- but Dr. Holley at Jem Opticals is excellent -- he's at 14th and H.

Dr. Andrew Adelson at 1145 19th St. Has been in Washingtonian's Best Docs issue.......He isn't very chatty, but knows his stuff and I feel like he is one of the best in the biz.

Holzman talked me out of Lasik even though he does it. I was impressed by that.

I love my Optometrist - he is a specialist in contact lenses. His name is Dr. Jay Klessman and he's at 1800 K St. (Klessman and Rosenblatt - you can look it up on the web). I have had some problems with wearing contacts over the years and he has always been able to solve them and keep me in contacts that work well for me and are healthy. He's always been ahead of the curve on contact lens technology and he wears them himself. You should call - maybe they will have a cancellation.
