Disappearing/Shrinking Belly Button?

Anonymous
Hi,

I am about 24 weeks pregnant and my belly button (an innie) is getting smaller and smaller everyday to the point where I almost do not have a belly button anymore. My belly button is very very tiny now and it is not deep at all the way it used to be. It's the strangest thing. Everything I read about belly buttons during pregnancy says that an innie can become an outie but nowhere did I find anything saying that an innie can become much much smaller and flatter to the point where it does not even look like a belly button anymore. It is just so tiny now. Wondering if anyone has had the same experience? Is this normal?

TIA

I have no idea if it is normal, but my usually small belly button has gotten even smaller and seems to have "closed up" more. (I am now 27 weeks.) Like you, I was expecting it to get bigger and to become more of an outie. But I doubt this is anything to worry about; as with everything else, women's bodies just different.

I'm 26 weeks and the same thing has happened to me. It feels so weird but I don't think it's anything to worry about

My belly button changed shape during pregnancy. Happy to report that it returned to its old shape (or at least a regular, cute shape) some time after the baby was born. It wasn't instant, though.

Similar experience here. It kept shrinking and then disappeared altogether (the skin was just smooth in the spot where it used to be). Came back after I had the baby, I don't really remember how long it took though. Nothing to be concerned about.

same here -- 23 weeks -- i'm so big out front that it is just being stretch flat.

The same thing happened to me (although probably not that early). It never actually popped out like you see on a lot of women. Went back to normal pretty soon afterwards.

Another "same here." I'm 30 weeks and my belly button has been a "flattie" for the past 5 or 6 weeks. I was pretty thin pre-pregnancy and haven't put on a huge amount of weight during pregnancy (19 lbs or so so far), but I'm not sure if that's relevant or not. Either way, I don't mind -- it's weird but cute! A little bit sensitive, though.
