| I made reservations to Florida leaving DCA on Wednesday and returning Wednesday, but the return was supposed to be Sunday and I am way past the 24 hour limit for changes! Is there any other recourse except going through Expedia to get the earlier flight? Expedia is not giving me many options. |
| It is going to cost you $$$$. Probably at least $150 per ticket, plus any care increase. Just FYI. |
|
Nope, you'll have to pay a change fee.
Might be cheaper for you to separately book a one way ticket back. |
| Just keep calling Expedia and insist on talking to higher ups until the fix it. Agree it will cost money but they may comp you some of it. Don't admit any fault, make it seem like the website screwed up. Good luck. |
|
OP here - So just cancel the one way back and book another flight?
|
ugh...I so dislike you. |
+1 Sometimes honesty works, sometimes not. Is biting the bullet and buying a one way ticket an option on the day you wanted to return? |
Flights from DCA to orlando are cheap. Unless you're on SW the change fees will be more than ticket prices. Why book via expedia instead of directly on the airline website? |
| But you can't "cancel" the return - it will void the whole ticket. Just no-show the return. |
| OP Lesson learned the hard way! |
|
I would call Expedia first and explain what happened. See if they will work with you, or give you a discount on the ticket change fee. If the fee is more than the ticket then just book the extra ticket and no-show the other.
You could also try contacting the airline about canceling the one ticket. They may not give you $$ back but may give you a portion of it on a gift card. Worth trying all your options before just purchasing additional tickets... |
| I would call during business hours and make sure you don't get someone with an accent. I often find that people who do the work for these third party travel sites are in India and the Philippines. They are not allowed to bend the rules. In the US, they do sometimes work with you. Keep trying. I have had good luck just saying that I messed up and I really need there help. |
