reading comprehension support?

Anonymous
DD was a late reader and was diagnosed with dyslexia in spring of 1st grade. Two years later, we just did more language/reading evaluations, and the evaluator said that her decoding is fine but that her reading comprehension is very low -- she reads each individual word without thinking about its meaning or how they go together. Listening comprehension is fine.

What reading comprehension supports/strategies have been most helpful for your child?

I would recommend Wilson Fluency for support with fluency and Leveled Literacy Intervention for comprehension.

It's not easy but I recommend reading aloud to the child so you can discuss the books or alternatively, you read they same books so you can discuss them

I would get a tutor to supplement at this point.
