| My ds needs to get out of the activewear once in a while, and he doesn't know what else he wants. What does your 12 year old ds wear when it's not under armour/nike/adidas? Where do you shop? |
| That's what he wears - Nike, Under Armour and Addidas! It's a fight to get him to wear other clothes. He does have a suit for services and a couple polo shirts. |
| We have 2 pairs of jeans and two pairs of "dark green" type skinny khakis.... |
Same with our 12-year old. |
|
I don't know. He shops for shoes with his dad and stuff like that doesn't matter at that age.
We shop at Costco, Target, Old Navy, etc. NBD! |

All of my 12 yr old's male peers wear activewear every single day -- sometimes with jeans if it's cold, but always some Under Armor shirt on top and neon Nike basketball shoes.
My 12 yr old boy however wears jeans, or khaki shorts, and on top wears flannel shirts/plaid shirts/ slouchy sweaters and generally sports a "musician+nerd+retro" look. Black retro "sneakers," or Vans, deliberately old-fashioned looking shirts. J Crew, H and M and the adult section of Old Navy are where we find his stuff. These are littler kids, but this is the look. He is not ostracized for abstaining from all Under Armor, all the time:
|
| Active wear only. My son has always been tactile and does not like the feel of jeans or khakis. One day.... however, up until now, Under Armor and the like are his go to clothes. |
| Not only will my 12 year old only wear activewear -he will only wear shorts (he says his school is too hot) in this cold weather. He has dress clothes for Temple. Doesn't own a pair of jeans. |
Same here with my 11 year old. But that's what all of the boys his age wear so... |
I was at a party on New Year's day with a big bunch of 12-13 yr olds. They were all in the Nike/Under Armour/Addidas uniform, including my DS. The only time he wears something else is black dress pants and a polo shirt for church or to attend a wedding or funeral. |
| 12 yr old DD wears mostly sweats and shirts too. They are comfortable apparently. I would think DS and DD would want to wear jeans after being forced to wear an uniform for school. |
+1. I think all of the 12 year old boys are like this. |
| Other than UA, Vineyard Vines and jeans. |
No, no they are not. We have always viewed athletic wear for athletics not casual wear and certainly not for school. At some point, you have communicated through your purchasing that this is scceptable for daily wear. It may be difficult to change at this stage without a huge battle. |
It is acceptable for daily wear unless a school has a uniform or dress code. |
