Any recommendations on movies or series streaming on Netflix (or Hulu or Amazon Prime) where teens can watch, too? (Teens are ages 13 and 14.)
Loved Friday Night Lights, Parenthood, and Gilmore Girls. |
| Friends is a classic and Prison Break was very well done. I'm a big fan of The Good Wife as well; very underrated show. |

This might be a stretch, but Mozart in the Jungle - strong message, but not "sexy". Hart of Dixie; Freaks and Geeks, and Gossip Girl are a few of my favorites.
I also watched the Red Oaks pilot on amazon and it was cute - perfect for teens. |
| The Fosters. It's an ABC family drama about a lesbian couple and their adopted/foster teenagers. |
| Definitely Hart of Dixie. Grand Hotel is perfect too, but for the subtitle-reading. |
+1 on Hart of Dixie. It's got a very Gilmore Girls feel with the setting. I'm actually watching it now! I didn't care for it much, but maybe Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt? The main character is kind of childlike and might appeal to younger teens (though I just found her grating). |
Red oaks isn't "cute." It's very misanthropic with a lot of under age sex, drinking, drug use. The protagonist's middle aged father laments how he always had a thing for Asian women and how he suspect his wife is gay. I enjoyed it, but given the other shows you listed OP, I don't think it would be a good fit. Psych is a good series for watching with teens. Third Rock and 30 Rock are funny. |

| Chuck, leverage, Buffy , Farscape, alias, iZombie, Jane the virgin, the wonder years |
| I liked this show called Wolfblood. It's very family friendly and held my attention (I'm 33). I think there are 3-4 seasons, and each episode is 30 minutes. |
| For Amazon Prime, you could go retro and try Hey Dude or Daria. Also, Higher Ground and Veronica Mars. Oh and Freaks and Geeks - I'm not sure which streaming thing it's on though. I enjoyed all shows as a teen and an "adult". |
| Switched at Birth |
