We cannot have nice things, I guess. I was only on page 1 of the thread when you deleted it, Jeff. I guess it got pretty ugly? I wish it could've stayed up. I was traveling the outer loop towards Tysons while this was happening and heard about it on WTOP. I saw the video that was posted on the 1st page -- bonkers!

I am really fed up with the racists that seem to hijack every thread these days. I am going to become really brutal about deleting posts and blocking posters. I started out removing individual posts in that thread and realized after the first page it was futile.

I can't imagine the headache, but could we please have some clear understanding about what constitutes racism? Is it the mention of the races in a mean way? Everyone seems to have their own definition of what a racist is. Is it like porn? You just know it when you see it?

Being a native Washingtonian from a racially diverse neighborhood, I think it's important to allow people to share their thoughts and experiences. You know the book, Nurture Shock? Isn't there a chapter entitled, "Why White People Don't Talk About Race"? Or something like that?

I think the bigger concern here is that law enforcement completely ignored the crime as it was happening, but now they're saying they want all the video people have.

Given all the lawyers who use DCUM, I hesitate to provide any definition that will immediately be deconstructed and found to be riddled with loopholes and inconsistencies. So, "I know it when I see it" is probably the best I can offer. However, what I am generally concerned about are disparaging generalizations along the lines of "all x people are y".

I've found that whatever I do with regard to offensive posts, there are still posters who think I leave posts that are offensive to their specific group (which is also used as evidence to show that I personally also oppose that specific group) and there are posters who think I favor other specific groups. Before accusing me of bias, I wish posters would use the "report" button more. Otherwise, it is likely I don't know about the posts.
