Infertility Support and Discussion
| Is it too late to start acupuncture on an IVF cycle that I've already started stimming for? |
|
I think so. I've taken a break from the stims and started doing acupuncture again. I will go back to the stims but I needed a break.
As my acupuncturist explained to me, acupuncture works very slowly with your body. For real results you need a few months. I would make and appointment with someone now, talk to them and see what they say. I go to Kerri Westhauser in DC, but she has offices in Bethesda and somewhere in VA too. |

OP here. Thanks. I spoke with an acupuncturist and they said I should still come in on the morning of my transfer and after the transfer. She called it the German study. Would it be worth doing that or should I bag it all together at this point?
I did 6 months of acu a year ago that never lead to a pregnancy so I stopped. I'm wondering if it's worth going back for the IVF transfer..... |
| It probably can't hurt, so if you like going you might as well try it (assuming the money isn't too much of a barrier). I've also heard that timing accu around the transfer is the most important part. Good luck!!! |
| I think there are several studies that show increased pregnancy rates when acupuncture is done before and after transfer, so I would do that. |
| Agree...definitely do the pre/post acupuncture. My doc suggested it (noted the study also) and my 1st IVF worked. Who knows if it played a role, but I'm not complaining! The way I see it, anything that could possibly help is well worth it, especially when you're going through IVF. |
| The only studies that are considered valid by most REs are the ones showing a higher success rate with IVF if you do acu before and after transfer. There are no studies showing acu helps at any other time, although I personally found that it helped to make my cycle more regular. |
| have any of you seen dr wu in China-town?? he was great |
