CD40 / possibly 16 DPO but Negative HPT - what would you do?

Anonymous
I am on day 40 of my cycle and have had several negative HPTs. Fertility friend and the clearblue monitor suggest an O date of CD24, which would put me at 16 DPO. My normal luteal phase is 12 days, so I'm way past that. I also normally average cycles between 29 and 36 days. I've been TTC for 16 cycles now and was just set to start Clomid/IUI at SG next week, so this is really annoying. I emailed my RN my chart and she said maybe I ovulated later, perhaps even CD29 or CD31, so I should wait a bit longer. Does that seem right to anyone who's been through this? I guess if I did O later then there would be no point in me having a quantitative HCG test because it might still be negative at 10 or 11 DPO. I have a "no menses" workup set for next Monday but obviously I'm really impatient.

It sounds like that you may have possibly ovulated much later than you thought....which is making your cycle longer. I know these words will sound evil after waiting for so long already...but I think you should wait a little bit longer before doing anything....

I am going through the same thing, I just posted as well before reading your post. I never cycle this late either but last month was 36 days and now I'm at 39 with nothing but two negative tests. I know only time will tell, but it is so hard to wait! Especially when I used to have regular cycles.

Let's keep in touch, hoping for the best for both of us!

OP here - thanks, it's not "evil" to say wait, I knew that's what I was going to get, just I guess felt better getting confirmation. To 9:33 poster, funny that we are going through the same thing!

I am now on CD41, and would be 17DPO if I had calculated my O date right. I didn't test this morning, sick of seeing the one pink line. I did call my nurse at Shady Grove yesterday after posting and she said I could come in whenever to have a "no menses workup" (which I gather is bloodwork and ultrasound) to figure out what is going on. I explained I wasn't sure on O date and she said wait until 14 days after the latest day I think it could have been, so I am doing that and have an appointment Monday. I'll probably test again before that if my temperature doesn't take a nosedive or my period doesn't show up. She said they'd give provera to start a cycle if it turns out I'm not pregnant and there is no other explanation, so we could get the show on the road.

What a nice mother's day present a BFP would be after 16 months of trying, but after this long I'm not optimistic.

Ok, I did test at day 40 and it was negative again. My DH needed to know, as I didn't tell him I tested previously. Now he is upset, as he was hoping this was it. I've been TTC for over 2 years, and last year had two failed IVF's and one failed IUI. That's one reason why I know my cycle so well. I'm usually ovulating at day 17 or 18, and last month day 21. I find it hard to believe I ovulated later than that, and wonder if I'm pre-menapausal (sp)?

I'll keep waiting, but call my doctor office tomorrow if nothing is still happening. This is maddening!

any update? I'm still in waiting mode. Thinking I'll test again on Sunday if nothing happens tomorrow.

Any update OP????

I'm not at cycle day 43 and a BFN this morning. Guess I didn't ovulate this month at all, so I need to move on and hope I ovulate this month.

OP here -- I started my period Saturday, so I am guessing I ovulated later than my Clear Blue monitor and my BBT chart showed, around CD31. I am starting Clomid/IUI this cycle. I think you said your doctor said to wait until it had been something like 90 days before being concerned, but personally I'd push to get in earlier than that if you're still TTC. Good luck to you, I hope you ovulate or get some answers.
