Okay, you guys are great at this and I don't have much to give you
Movie was in the 80's, I'd saw 1980-84 Not even 100% sure it was in theaters. I saw it on TV. I don't remember any of the actors, really helpful, I know. Mostly male actors, not sure there was a lead female teen character. Maybe in Arizona or California, desert, sand, not many trees badly behaving teens, not 16 Candles misbehaving, more like The Outsiders. There were conflicts with teens & police, teens & parents, and parents & police. One time the kids hid behind a large metal phone? junction box while running from the police. One of the teens may have had an older brother that was a police officer. The big climax -- All the parents in the town are at the local high school for a meeting basically about how terrible the teens are & what the authorities are/are not doing. Teens lock the parents in the school and start burning cars and wrecking havoc. I remember it was at night and cars were burning. Work your magic. I have been trying to figure this out for years. |
| The Legend of Billie Jean maybe?? |
If there's a golf course involved (maybe mini) that'd be my guess too. Somebody died in Legend of Billie Jean, and there was a great song towards the end. I loved that movie. |

Does this list help?

No, the teens were in their own town causing trouble. The kids were definitely the issue, it wasn't that they were misunderstood or standing up to injustice. The police may have been a little heavy-handed though. Thanks though. |
| Lost Boys? Vampire flick with Corey Haim. |
| Sounds partially like Pump Up the Volume, especially the bit about the meeting at the school. Christian Slater and Samantha Mathis. |

OP here. No. I always think it should be The Outsiders or Red Dawn, those two movies must have something similar to my mystery movie. |
| Children of the Corn? |
Bingo we have a winner!! I never would have thought Matt Dillon, that threw me. How did you find it? |
+1 Matt Dillion's beginnings. |
| Correct PP here - 1. I love that movie & 2. I have a very weird and generally useless memory for minutiae. Happy to help! |
