| We don't want a Disney vacation. We're looking for something culturally interesting for the parents but also kid friendly. We were originally thinking about Costa Rica but realized most of the jungle stuff is for elementary school age kids and older. Is there something else we're missing? |
| Riviera Maya? Panama? |
| Nicaragua? |
| Not Central America, but playa del Carmen in Mexico is easy and toddler friendly. |

Definitely something like a resort around Playa del Carmen. There are nearby water parks, Mayan ruins etc that you could take them to in small doses. We took our kids to Costa Rica at 6 and 4 and it was okay but they really don't remember much from that trip. I recommend that you make it comfortable for you as parents.
We had an awesome trip to Guatemala for a month when they were 9 and 11 - which are perfect ages for them to really enjoy, appreciate and remember the adventure stuff and daily life there. |
| We went to Costa Rica with a 1 and 6 year old. Yes a lot of the adventure tourism type stuff we couldn't do, but we were not so into that stuff anyway. Loved spending time on the beach, exploring the towns on the Caribbean side, and taking walks in the rainforest and mountains. I think it's a great destination if you don't want to do a tour or resort. It's easy to travel around independently with kids, especially if you rent a car. |
We were there with a 5 and 7 year old this year and had a great time. I think you'd get more out of the experience if everyone was a bit older. |
Please tell me more about toddler friendly stuff in Playa.... |
