Dog-free winery

Anonymous
I'd love to take my family to a winery in Loudoun over the weekend. Last time, we went to Barrel Oak, and it was lovely - except there was dog $hit everywhere outside. It's not that I have a problem with dogs per se, but I think when people are enjoying their wine, they aren't the most attentive when it comes to picking up after their dogs. There are rules posted about keeping dogs on leash and picking up after them, but it seems they are generally ignored.

Are there any wineries out there where I can just enjoy my afternoon without having to worry about stepping in $hit or having my kid knocked down by a large unleashed dog?

Thanks in advance!

The winery at Bull Run is very nice. They have specific "family areas" but I have never seen dogs there. It's very close to the Manassas Battlefields so if you wanted to go for a hike or visit the visitors center for some "history lessons" you can make a full day of it. http://www.wineryatbullrun.com/

I think wineries are more meant for dogs than children. Ymmv

PP here--I just noticed you specified Loudoun....the Winery at Bull Run is in Prince William county, not Loudoun. Sorry!

Um Barrell Oak is infamous for its dog friendly environment with several wines named after the owners dogs and frequent rescue and meet ups for breeds.

Op, you picked the wrong winery if you're not up for canine appeal. Probably the absolutely worst winery. lol!

I don't know why people consider taking kids to a winery to be a family activity. Drinking and driving with your kid in the car? I'm a dog person, but trying to enjoy myself at a winery wouldn't include a dog either. More like a limo.

The person pointing out this truism is not the one with the clenched sphincter here. If anyone, it's the OP.
