How long is your child's recess time each day?

Hi- My daughter is a private school. She is in the Nursery and goes to school from 9-12 daily. They go outside from 11-11:50 (carpool time) daily. They go outside in all kinds of weather. Outside play is so important for healthy social and academic growth and it's one of the reasons why we chose the school.

I believe the Kindergartners also go outside for at least an hour each day.

Parocial - 15 mins in morning (Kindergarten is more like 20-25 mins) and then 20 mins after lunch.

The schedule at my DD's public school says 30 mins daily but they don't always have it. 2-3 days per week from what I can tell. And it's at the end of the day. One PE class per week. It is really shameful.

Private school in Virginia 20 mins in the morning and 20 to 30 mins in the afternoon plus PE once or twice a week.

But you'd be lucky to have that.

My oldest daughter had recess once or twice a month her first grade year... and many times she wasn't even aloud to participate because she hadn't finished all of her work.

Private Kindergarten with slightly longer days than most schools. Recess 3x a day. Morning work, short recess - 20?min, 30 min recess lunch, than 30 min end of day. plus pe 2x a week. Recess outside except with this awful rain . . . a big difference!
