hi. i am anticipating maybe running into some problems with the residency docs for school and was wondering if anyone else had been through it...
1. will they accept a lease that has passed into the month-to-month phase? i am concerned that they will view it as "expired." 2. will they accept copies of bills printed out from the internet? i don't get paper copies. 3. will they accept paystubs printed out from employer's web site? i don't get paper copies. 4. this is a tricky one: i am divorced and we have joint custody. ds went into lottery under DH's address because we like the school he was zoned for better. will they have a problem if i try to fill out all the paperwork with my addresss and use my residency docs etc? ex-dh is in and out of town on business and has an all around impossible work schedule, so it is easier for me to do it. this is fun! |
Call DCPS and ask. We used a Pepco bill addressed to us and then a print-out of the online payment (the account numbers should match up from the hard-copy bill to the online payment. I guess you could always call Pepco and ask them to send you a hard-copy statement. |
also, i have used my license and our car registration- one is in my name and one is in my husband's name (we have different last names). maybe you could do it with his car registration and his lease?

It sounds as if you were accepted into the pre-K lottery as an in-boundary student based on your ex-husband's current address. If so, you are going to have to document his in-boundary residency, the fact that you live out of boundary but in DC does not establish in boundary residency. If your child got into an out of boundary lottery, I would expect that you just have to demonstrate DC residence and that residency for either of you would do. I would call the school and see if you can bring in his documents. That is, you can bring in your child's birth certificate and a copy of his paystub that shows his current address, I do not recall if they require ID for the parent as well. |
