| Husband got let go today with a 2 day notice. Is this normal for contractor's? |
|
You don't usually get 2 weeks notice, or even 2 days notice. Usually you're let go immediately and they'll escort you out. They dont want you to have any time or access to do any harm to anything or anyone since you know you're gone.
Surprised he got 2 days notice. |
| unless we think the person is a threat to the company we give at least two weeks notice to ensure KT can take place. |
This is what my husband tells me. You get escorted out, they pack up your stuff and hand it to you. |
| From my experience, if you are a contract employee (i.e., 1099) or work for a company that contracts services, you get no notice (unless the contract requires that). I personally am a gov't contractor; I work for a large company. We definitely get 2 weeks notice. |
| I got laid off a month ago. I was't allow back into the building, not even to pack to my my personal belongings. I was at client site for over nine years, a top producer and never saw it coming. |
| Like PP said, if you're 1099 then you get no notice but if you a government contractor that works for a company you usually get 2 weeks notice at least. Most people I know get placed on the bench for 2 weeks to a month or so. |
