having trouble finding underpants for dd, who just turned 2 and is very petite (22 lbs) - any suggestions would be very helpful. many thanks.

My DD (at 3.5) is still very petite. I originally bought her some panties at Hanna Andersson (size XS!) but they were too big until only recently, maybe the past couple months, and they are still a bit loose.
I had the best luck with some panties I bought at Target - I think they are Sesame Street brand (they have Elmo on them - I bought a 3-pack and later bought a 5/6-pack). Anyway the package said 2T-3T and they are quite small (plus I washed and dried them so they even shrank a little) but those are the ones we used for DD for the longest time and they even still fit her. |
For boys, I found that Walmart and Target both carried very small underwear. Maybe they do for girls also?
Hanna Anderson were the only ones that seemed to work without gaping around the legs for our petite dd (now at age 3, still just 27 lbs.).

I also find the Target ones (Sesame Street) fit the best (DD is 2 1/2 and weighs not quite 26lbs).

Carter's.
Well, my DD wasn't anywhere near wearing panties when she had just turned 2 (congratulations!), but, as she approached 3, she started wearing the Gymboree size 3-4 panties. She's slim, and they fit her very well. I see the panties come in size 2T-3T; you might want to check out the Gymboree web site.
op here. thanks, all! we couldn't find 2Ts at target for some reason (smallest size was 4T) but perhaps they were just out of stock that day. will check back and will follow up on other brands as well... appreciate all the advice.
Buy Buy Baby carries Gerber training pants which although are plain white and not too fancy, the 2T size was fine for my also petite DS... and they are very soft and have some extra cushioning for absorbing accidents but still she can feel it - and maybe giving you a few extra seconds to save your carpet!
