Really....the accountant who embezzled millions. The character's name was Meyer Hoffman.
Come on......why didn't they just name him Fagin? Unfortunate choice of names for the script. Disappointed. |
| cool story, bro |
| they're not very subtle. The redneck country star is Luke Wheeler for goodness sake. |
| I agree, the use of the name Meyer Hoffman, is perpetuating a negative stereotype. Hey Shylock |
| It's Hollywood - do you really expect left-wingers to NOT bash Jews? Even the left wing Jews bash Jews to fit in! |
| I didn't pay attention to the name, but yeah that's pretty bad. Makes me think of Wolfsheim rigging the World Series from The Great Gatsby. |
I think that was partially inspired by real life racketeer Arnold Rothstein who was thought to have rigged the 1919 World Series. But yes, lazy writing with these stereotypical, racist tropes. |
| as an aside, can we please get rid of scarlett on the show. Her talking voice is so grating and why can't she open her mouth and actually enunciate? |
Well, don't watch Entourage--the Ari Gold character will give you spasms for stereotypes. Martin Frankel, Bernie Madeoff, Jack Abramoff spring to mind when you think of embezzlement, so Hoffman is hardly a stretch. |
| watching nashville right now. God I want to rip my ears off if I have to hear Scarlet speak one more time. That weird baby voice and her inability to actually open her mouth and enunciate is so fucking irritating. I know she is australian so maybe this is what she thinks a hillbilly sounds like?? |
I love to imitate her - it's so easy. She is a horrible actress. (But seems like a lovely person in real life.) |
